Tasks of the Trade Committee



Explanatory Introduction: The tasks of the committee were first established in July 2005. And expanded its functions in October 2009.Then the committee's tasks and terms of reference were amended in January 2011.



1. The duties of the Trade Committee include import trade, wholesale and retail trade. The Trade Committee is concerned with the issues of all companies and commercial establishments operating in import and wholesale marketing, modern supermarkets for retail sale, commercial agencies, and branches of international commercial companies in Yemen.



2. The Trade Committee is concerned with issues related to commercial affairs, the commercial sector, and the rest of the private sector’s activities, which are: taxes and fees and their various problems, customs and their transactions, contracting for supplies, commercial disputes and commercial arbitration, and the Trade Committee is the The first basic committee to supervise these issues and the aspects that it has to take care of as its main tasks, which it deals with in coordination with the rest of the specialized committees of the federation, and with the leadership of the federation and its general executive management.



3. Organizing the various commercial sectors in which the private sector operates according to the quality, nature and specificity of the work of each commercial sector or category of them. Dividing it into sectors, categories and groups, knowing its concerns and problems and working to remove those concerns and solve those problems in coordination with the Federation and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry.



4. The committee follows a division for pharmaceutical companies and pharmacies, which is supervised by the committee, and a special regulation for the division is drawn up, and the committee has to follow up on the division’s administrative body and activate it.



5. It is within the committee's competencies to carry out various trade-related services needed by the commercial sector, such as: market research for global and local commercial markets, commercial media, and others. The same applies to services directly related to the commercial sector, such as after-sales services, and the like.



6. Possible assistance to rehabilitate the commercial sector by organizing itself and its activities and absorbing international trade variables and their effects on the commercial reality in our country. And to overcome the difficulties faced by the Yemeni private sector in import operations and in international trade.



7. Paying attention to commercial laws, regulations and legislation, following up on how they are actually implemented, and contributing to legislative reforms thereto. And commercial and legal awareness by providing information to traders, such as introducing international treaties and agreements related to world trade and intellectual property rights, and others.



8. Surveying the business environment is one of the tasks of the committee, and the committee must follow up on the many factors affecting the business environment. And work with other stakeholders to improve the business environment in general and the business environment in particular.



9. One of the duties of the Trade Committee is to follow up on conditions and transactions in import, customs, taxes, shipping, insurance, banking, duties and other transactions related to commercial affairs, and work to improve various internal and external commercial transactions.



10. Enhancing the spirit of union solidarity, strengthening relations, qualifying and developing the capabilities of the commercial sector, paying attention to the interests of members and interacting with their issues in every commercial sector and commercial category. And work on the classification of commercial categories and hold meetings and meetings with each of them.



11. Working on regulating, developing and improving both wholesale and retail trade. And the organization of commercial markets in various parts of the Republic. And work on controlling and regulating prices in coordination with the concerned authorities, as well as introducing and implementing the Anti-Monopoly and Encouraging Competition and adhering to its rules.



12. Paying attention to the affairs of importers and importers as companies and individuals, organizing the categories of importers and developing their work, and helping to grow interest in the requirements of the flow of goods with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as the Arab countries and the rest of the world, and strengthening and developing trade exchange with various countries for the benefit of all. And remove obstacles in this regard.



13. Consciously strengthening the partnership with various relevant institutions locally, Arably and internationally, and responding to Arab and international changes, their conditions and requirements. And work to overcome the problems faced by the Yemeni commercial sector as a result of global economic crises and the negative impact of foreign competition in the Yemeni market.



14. Attention with everyone to contribute to the provision of appropriate climates that enable the private sector to actively contribute and perform its role in economic affairs with homogeneity, integration, and stimulating and effective harmony, and to improve the existing concepts about the private sector and its economic role.



15. Strengthening the spirit of trust between the commercial sector and concerned government institutions, such as finance, taxes and customs. . and others. And the development of dealings with these agencies. Working with everyone to reduce tax burdens, double levies, and additional illegal fees.



16. Contribute to organizing seminars and programs related to commercial activity, holding conferences, trade seminars, and trade fairs, and attracting Yemeni expatriates to work in the commercial field inside the country.



17. Improving and upgrading specifications, standards and quality of goods, materials and commercial devices in coordination with the Industry Committee, and working to adhere to the requirements of consumer protection.



 



 


18. Contribute to the consolidation of commercial arbitration in order to solve problems and disputes arising between members of the private sector and members of the Federation and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry. And put practical steps to resolve commercial disputes through the establishment of committees and bodies specialized in this aspect.


19. Developing and modernizing the commercial institutions and companies of the private sector in terms of administrative and financial terms, and in terms of performance and work effectiveness. Through various means, including corporate governance and commercial institutions. Given that corporate governance is the basic process of modernizing private sector companies and institutions in light of the intensification of global competition and the increasing effects of globalization.
