The Federation has great tasks to carry out in order to develop the Yemeni private sector. Law No. (28) for the year 2003 AD defines the tasks of the union as follows:


1) Preparing studies for all economic activities in cooperation with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and submitting them to the competent authorities.


2) Representing the chambers of commerce and industry inforn of the competent authorities in matters that do not fall within the jurisdiction of a particular chamber.


3) Participation in government councils and bodies related to general economic policies.


4) Participation in collective negotiations related to the conclusion of collective joint work contracts with relevant international organizations.


5) Assist the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in preparing studies that enable them to carry out their duties and work on everything that leads to their revitalization, progress and growth.


6) Carry out reconciliation and arbitration between the chambers themselves or between third parties if requested to do so.


7) Coordinating efforts and cooperating with Arab, regional and international chambers and federations and exchanging commercial and industrial information in order to achieve common interests.


8) Issuance of the Industrial Commercial Directory of the Republic.


9) Express and submit an opinion to the relevant authorities on the following issues:


 - Preparing and amending draft laws and regulations of an economic nature.


 - Establishing free markets and stock exchanges and holding exhibitions.


10) Working in cooperation and coordination with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry to:


- Establishing commercial and industrial centers and institutes and managing them for their members.


- Organizing permanent and temporary markets and exhibitions at home and abroad.
