As part of research work carried out by the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry and with the aim of highlighting the role of the private sector in providing renewable energy in Yemen and analyzing the challenges facing the private sector in this area, exploring the future of solar energy in Yemen and making recommendations to promote the participation of the private sector in providing renewable energy, the Federation has publisheded a research paper entitled "the Private Sector and Renewable Energy in Yemen the Current Reality and Partnership Requirements".
The paper examines the role of the private sector in providing renewable energy in Yemen in all economic sectors including the household economy, agriculture, water, education, and health with a generating capacity of over 2200 megawatts at the end of 2023 (1500 megawatts in the agricultural sector, 400 megawatts in the industry sector, 300 megawatts in the household sector).The paper also addresses the factors contributing to the growth of renewable energy market and the challenges that limit the expansion of renewable energy and then explore the future of solar energy in Yemen and the possibility of establishing public-private partnership in the area of renewable energy and making some relevant recommendations.
