An interview with Mr. Mohammed Mohammed Qafla, Director General of the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry(FYCCI) published in Al-Masarif Magazine in its September 2022 issue:



The Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry has been conducting various activities recently? Can we say that the Federation has restored its activity again?



Over the past years, we have been keen to restore the activities of the Federation through the development of a communication strategy and a strategic plan with a view to revamping the website of the Federation and also conducted a series of economic studies .

We have also increased interactions with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and provided them with training programs in order to build their capacities and increase their services.

It should also be noted here that the Federation, which represents 21 Chambers of Commerce and Industry, works to solve problems and overcome the difficulties facing the private sector in order to restore its activity and to be able to play a leading role in the national economy .



What are your top priorities in the coming period?



Our highest priorities in the coming period are to continue building the capacity of the Federation and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, develop the public-private partnership, and continue conducting a number of economic studies to help prepare the private sector for the reconstruction process.



In light of the ongoing financial and monetary division in the country that directly or indirectly affects the work of the Federation.. What is the Federation's view on overcoming this financial division? 



In order to overcome this financial division, the Federation calls on all of the parties concerned to coordinate their financial and monetary policies with the aim of achieving economic stability.



What is the extent of coordination between the Federation and the Chambers of Commerce in the governorates of 

Yemen?



The Federation is in constant contact with all chambers in all governorates and works to provide them with all the information the Federation receives as well as coordinating for the participation of businessmen at international events .



In light of the war and the blockade imposed on our country.. In your opinion, what are the main difficulties facing the private sector, especially with regard to the issue of import, export and transport of goods?



The most prominent challenges and difficulties facing the private sector are related to import and export, the high international and internal transport costs and insurance as well as the continued lack of access of all goods from the port of Hodeidah, in addition to the difficulty in conducting banking transactions with foreign banks.



What is the Federation stand on the issue of neutralizing the economic sector from the war? How can this be achieved?



We launched an initiative to neutralize the economy immediately after the war broke out and we hope that all the parties concerned will take practical steps to neutralize the economy.



What is the extent of coordination between the Federation and Yemen Banks Association  to overcome the challenges facing the private sector?



We have a strong relationship with Yemen Banks Association and are working together to solve the problems and difficulties facing the banking sector.





 We recently heard about a new identity for the Federation and its reactivation?  What's new about that?



Yes, a new identity has been developed for the Federation to replace the previous identity .#Fycci
