The General Federation of Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry has released a new analytical economic report titled:
"Employment in Yemen: Recent Statistics and Future Trends."
The report was prepared by Ms. Rana Al-gawani, Head of the Research and Studies Center at the Federation. It provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the Yemeni labor market and the profound transformations it has undergone since the outbreak of the crisis, with a focus on structural challenges and untapped opportunities in promising sectors.
Key highlights of the report include:
* Record-high unemployment rates among youth and women
* Expansion of the informal sector and decline in formal employment opportunities
* Weak economic participation of women and lack of effective empowerment policies
* Sharp decline in technical and vocational education despite a high demand for it
* Growing employment opportunities in promising sectors such as:
- Agriculture and food industries
- Health and social services
- Renewable energy
- Digital economy and freelance work
- Entrepreneurship and logistics services
The report also offers practical recommendations to revitalize the labor market through training, integration into value chains, and investment in human capital.
