An Advanced Training Program on Designing, Installing and maintaining Solar-Powered Water Pumps was inaugurated today Saturday October 12, 2024 at the Federation's headquarters in Sana'a. This training program, which is part of Supporting Resilient Livelihoods, Food Security, and Climate Adaptation in Yemen and financed by the European Union and the Government of Sweden, is implemented by the International Labour Organization in partnership with the Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

During the opening ceremony, the Vice Chairman of the Federation Mr. Mohammed Mohammed Salah expressed gratitude to the International Labour Organization for its efforts in developing business organizations across various areas, particularly acknowledging the efforts of Mr. Ali Dahaq National Program Coordinator of the International Labour Organization and Mr. Tawfiq Jaber Coordinator of Supporting Resilient Livelihoods, Food Security, and Climate Adaptation in Yemen adding that they have played a significant role in ensuring continued support for the Federation and the Chambers, especially during the challenging circumstances facing the country at a time when many organizations withdraw from Yemen while the International Labour Organization continues its operations and providing  support to develop the Federation and chambers.

Mr. Salah also emphasized that this program reflects the effective partnership between the Federation and the International Labour Organization in general, and with the Renewable Energy Committee at the Federation in particular pointing out that this partnership underlines the Federation’s direction to support the private sector in keeping with the recovery program from the current crisis and the move into the areas of production, which is in consistent with the state's focus on expanding arable land and enhancing local production.

This program aims to develop the necessary human capacities required for the renewable energy sector in line with the enhancement of skills and technical capabilities needed in the job market. Salah encouraged the trainees to make the most of what this program offers and wished them success.

For his part Mr. Ali Dahaq pointed out that this program seeks to connect practical aspects with technical aspects by equipping trainees with numerous skills related to solar energy and broadening their abilities to incorporate new technologies as well as connecting small projects in renewable energy with major producers and traders within the field.

Dahaq also noted that he expects participants who represent the first group of the five groups targeted by the program, to transfer the knowledge and skills they acquire back to their workplaces and disseminate it locally, in order to facilitate the flow of these skills and expand the use of renewable energy while handling these modern technologies effectively and sustainably.

Mr. Tawfiq Jaber clarified that the program's goal is to enhance the capabilities of technicians working in the renewable energy sector by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge in designing, installing, and maintaining solar-powered water pumping systems.

He further indicated that the program will help establish a database of specialized technicians in this field, and one of the program's outcomes will be the updating and development of curricula to connect technicians with job market requirements.

Participants in the first group expressed that the training content closely aligns with their professional needs and requirements, which will assist them in developing their skills.

A total of 100 technicians from seven governorates will participate in this training from October 12 to December 22, 2024 in order to improve operations in this field and create a conducive environment for partnership between specialized institutions in renewable energy and small enterprises, as well as technicians in this sector.#FYCCI
