Tasks of the Investment and Promotion Committee
Explanatory Introduction: - The tasks of the committee were first established when it was established in July 2005. And expanded its functions in October 2009. By adding the tasks of the exhibitions to it. Then the committee's tasks and terms of reference were amended as follows in January 2011. Based on the work plan of the specialized committees of the Federation for the year 2011. Including adding promotional tasks (advertising and advertising) to its tasks and amending its name, given that promotion includes exhibition activities as well:
1. The Investment and Promotion Committee is concerned with investment affairs and investor issues from members of the Federation, Yemeni Chambers of Commerce and Industry, private sector individuals and other investors in Yemen. One of the priorities of the committee’s tasks is to organize the investors’ work according to the branches of their activities, the type of their investments, the sectors of their investments, and the categories of specialization for each of them.
2. The sectors and categories that fall within the competences of the Committee are as follows:
• investment companies
• Investment companies whose main business is investment
• Companies that have investment projects
• Companies specialized in the field of investment that provide services in the field of investment
• Exhibition organizing companies
• Advertising companies of all kinds
3. The functions of the committee’s work are in the following areas:
• Investment inside Yemen, including investment by expatriates and Yemeni immigrants
• The relationship with investors abroad and their investments in Yemen
• Investment, commercial and industrial exhibitions at home and abroad
• Investment financing for the private sector
• General and specific commercial directories for the various branches of the private sector
• Advertising and various forms of commercial promotion
4. Studying investment laws, legislation, and regulations, preparing special workshops for them, crystallizing opinions and proposals about them, and submitting them to the leadership of the Union for discussion with government agencies, in order to improve them constantly.
5. Studying the best ways to activate the partnership between the private sector and the government in the field of investment promotion, and determining the participation of the private sector represented in the Federation and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the governmental committees and councils concerned with setting and implementing investment policies.
6. Organizing investment, commercial, industrial, technical and information exhibitions required by the specialized committees of the federation, chambers of commerce and industry or private sector companies and institutions, under the supervision of the federation and the committee, whether inside or outside Yemen. And exhibitions that are requested by companies and foreign trade bodies to organize them inside Yemen,
7. Participation and contribution in the development of the commercial directory of the Federation and the work of its implementation, and the issuance of general and quality commercial directories and publicity and advertising work for the various branches of private sector activity required by the specialized committees of the Federation, chambers of commerce and industry or private sector companies and institutions, and This is under the supervision of the Federation and in cooperation with its general administration. Including preparing a directory of economic statistical data (commercial, industrial and financial) that the investor can benefit from to study his investment project.
8. Gathering information related to investment, and conducting a survey of investors and investment projects according to sectors, activities and investment categories. Participation in such surveys carried out by the official authorities and others.
9. Working on organizing commercial media promotion companies, such as advertising and media companies, and advertising companies. And commercial and industrial commodity promotion companies, and unify their entity. The committee has to follow up on its affairs and concerns, to identify its problems, and work to address them and develop solutions to them.
10. Establishing activities, businesses and events for improving the investment climate in cooperation with official government agencies, Arab, foreign and international organizations and bodies, and the rest of the donors regarding the obstacles to investment activity and the investment climate and improving the investment environment. As well as working with the aforementioned authorities on investment opportunities in Yemen, which helps to increase the pace of development and direct investors to promising investment opportunities.
11. Follow up on the rights of investors stipulated in the legislation with government agencies and work to enable investors to obtain the privileges and rights specified in accordance with the prevailing laws. And solving the problems and difficulties faced by investors and investment projects. Develop work mechanisms for the Federation and the Chambers of Commerce and Industry at the governorate level to achieve this.
12. Promoting investment projects and opportunities Develop a program for holding promotional conferences and seminars for investment in Yemen and abroad, with the active participation of the General Union and companies that fall within the scope of the committee's tasks. The committee can adopt the establishment of joint investment projects for Yemeni investors, in coordination with the president of the union and the director general of the union.
13. Active participation with government agencies in investment activity in free zones and industrial zones, and investment in establishing industrial, commercial, service, agricultural and fisheries complexes, and others.
14. Providing the service of economic feasibility studies for investment projects for private sector individuals through the use of the expertise it undertakes, whether from within or outside the union, based on requests submitted by private sector individuals and at reduced expenses
15. Paying attention to investment financing and providing financing for investment projects as one of the main tasks of the committee, in coordination with the General Union and its leadership and bodies, and in coordination with financing institutions, banks and banks.
